Arc is the namesake of the entire series and the protagonist of the first game; he also plays a crucial role in the second game. Ten years prior to the start of the first game, Arc's father Yoshua headed out into a blizzard for an unknown reason and disappeared. Since then, Arc has trained rigorously in hopes of one day learning what happened to his father. Arc finally gets his chance, but is confronted by a powerful demon. Arc is left for dead when suddenly he is healed and bestoyed magic upon by the Guardians, as well as learning that his father is still alive. He sets out on an epic journey to find his father and the Ark that houses the Guardians' powers, making both friends and enemies along the way. His search for his father, as well as the Ark, continues into the second game, where he bravely sacrifices himself to defeat the Dark One.
