Elk is part of a tribe of people known as Pyrenians. They have a special ability to conjure fire at will, and therefore worship the Fire Guardian. One day, a group of people on the airship Silver Noah launced a raid on the village Elk lived in, in hopes of stealing the Fire Guardian statue they worshipped. The raid resulted in the death of Elk's family, as well as his capture. He was taken to a facility called White House, where he and other children were tested on for many years. When he was finally able to escape, Elk vowed vengeance on Arc and the Silver Noah's crew for what he believed they did to his people.
