history

Domon Kasshu is the protaganist of Kidou Botuden/Mobile Fighter G-Gundam, who lives on the space colony of Neo-Japan with his parents and eldest brother Kyouji. He becomes a Gundam Fighter after a series of drastic events, leaving his mother dead, his father cryogentic frozen indefinitely, and his brother a missing traitor with stolen government property. Under the instruction of Major Ulube Ishikawa, Domon and his assistant Rain Mikamura descend to Earth to track down Kyouji and the stolen Devil/Dark Gundam, while partaking in the 13th Gundam Fight as a cover. While often gruff and stubborn in manner, Domon still cares deeply for those close to him, shown by his dedication in rescuing his father and companions. He first pilots the Shining Gundam until the final battles of the tournament approach when he fights in the God/Burning Gundam. His mentor is Master Asia, the Neo-Hong Kong Gundam Fighter, most recent Gundam Fight champion, and renowned martial artist, who bestowed his title of "King of Hearts" to Domon. When not piloting, Domon uses mainly hand-to-hand combat with some occasional swordplay later in the series. He has several trademark attacks while piloting, though he employs "Shining/God/Burning Finger" the most often.

Mobile Fighter G-Gundam is the first Gundam series to take place outside of the Universal Century timeline. All countries of the world have expanded into space, inhabiting individual colonies. To keep order within the colonies, a Gundam Fight was introduced; countries could enter one Gundam and its pilot to represent the colony, battles commenced, and the emerging victor brought glory and sorveignity to its colony. The battlefield: the Earth, now little more than a desolete wastleland. G Gundam marks another interesting deviation from other Gundam entries: all pilots wear special suits used for the Mobile-Trace System, a system that reads all movement from the pilot into the suit allowing for complete control.
