   Dufflepuds are curious little creatures that appear in the 'Chronicles of Narnia' books The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and (albeit briefly) The Last Battle. During Dawn Treader, King Caspian and his crew arrive on an island inhabited by invisible beings. After some course of events, the travelers manage to render the creatures visible. These inhabitants are the Duffers, the workmen of a wizard who transformed them into one-footed Monopods (what they call 'uglified'). The Duffers aren't terribly smart, so they will band together in agreement over whatever the Chief Duffer decides or mentions (which is often something quite obvious; "...what I say is, when chaps are visible, why, they can see one another"). When told of their new name of 'Monopods', they confused their names ('Moneypuds', 'Pomonods') until they eventually combined their new name with their old one to form 'Dufflepuds'.
