Godzilla (originally known as Gojira, later officially named Godzilla internationally) is the King of Kaiju; the star of his self-titled movie series "trilogy". The radioactive result of atomic bombing, the big guy appears occasionally as a defender against intruding forces and other times as the rampaging embodiment of human destruction. No matter which role(s) you prefer, Godzilla is an international icon of great monster movie-making.

Movie Series Trilogy

The first series (Showa) took place between 1954 and 1975, encompassing all movies from Gojira to Terror of Mechagodzilla. The series that followed (Heisei) went from 1984 to 1995, starting with The Return of Godzilla and finishing with Godzilla vs. Destroyer. The concluding series (Millennium) progressed from 1999 to 2004, with Godzilla 2000 to begin and ending with Godzilla: Final Wars. Sadly, there's also the generally disliked 1998 Godzilla film, which fortunately (for Goji fans) sparked Toho to make the Millennium series.

Colossal

Colossal is the TFL-recognized Godzilla fanlisting, begun on January 17th 2006 and completed on January 31st? 2006. The name stands not only for Goji's massive bulk, but also the power (psychically and symbolically) he contains. Quite metaphorically inspirational, no?
