about
Eyeshield 21 is the story of Kobayakawa Sena, a small, new high school freshman whose only real skill in life is doing things for others. He's so good at it, in fact, that he's trained himself to run incredibly quickly while doing others' errands. Sena has grand dreams for his high school career, but everything goes sort of topsy-turvy when Hiruma Youichi, captain of Deimon High's American Football club, sees just how fast Sena can run and decides to (forcibly) recruit him as the Deimon Devilbats' super-secret allstar running back, Eyeshield 21! Together, the team tries their best to pull together (starting with only three people) and make it to their dream of winning the Christmas Bowl!
The
Oujou White Knights are probably the Devilbats' main rivals- whereas Deimon focuses almost completely on offense, Oujou's strategy focuses around defense. Sena is drawn to keep moving forward in amefuto because of his first encounter with Shin Seijuuro, linebacker for Oujou and the team's star. When Shin tells Sena that Oujou will be waiting for Deimon in the finals, it gives Sena the drive to keep pushing himself to become better and better. Their (friendly) rivalry is probably the most driving in the series.
