Japan no matter the situation. Kawachi's father had always dreamed of being a baker, but was never any good. Eventually, there was a fire in their apartment caused by the baking and Kawachi's father died, leaving Kawachi to care for his family as the 'man of the house'. Kawachi bakes not only because it brings in money to send to his mother and younger siblings, but also because he wants to live out his father's dream and become a great baker. He gets a bit emotional sometimes, and seems to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but he has a good heart and sticks by his friends through thick and thin. He's also the nominee for "most times hair style changes" in Yaki.
